My parts supplier's website update turned a five-minute job into an hour

Calling might work, but @juliarodriguez's buddy Dave still wasted an hour before he figured that out. Time is MONEY when you're trying to get a job done. These website updates often forget about the actual users who need quick access. If a basic part takes forever to order, it slows down EVERY project. Vendors should test their systems with real tasks before pushing updates. A broken site isn't just a hassle, it's a real drain on productivity.

Treating arrays like shopping lists finally made them click for me. What everyday objects help you understand coding concepts?

My cousin who teaches math uses color coded stickers for sorting worksheets. It's like .filter where you group items by a rule without throwing anything away. Analogies break down eventually but starting with familiar actions helps bridge the gap.

After my deck cracked, I swear by bigger gaps between boards

People never believe how much wood can shift until they see it happen. I watched my own deck planks push each other out of line over one hot season. That quarter inch gap sounds tiny, but it's the difference between a nice deck and a DIY disaster.

A client mistook my steamer for a tea kettle today.

Oh man that reminds me of the time my nephew saw my fancy milk frother and thought it was a tiny silver SPACE ROCKET. He tried to launch it off the kitchen table. It's funny what people will mix up when they see something new.

Update: The antique shop down the street has a bunch of old book presses for sale

Those old presses are total boat anchors. They take up a huge amount of space and the rust is usually worse than it looks. Getting parts is a nightmare, and you'll spend more on fixing it than buying a modern one. They look cool but are they actually practical for real work? Seems like a lot of hassle for a decoration.
