Changed my mind about digital takeoffs after a site screw-up in Memphis

I always used paper blueprints, thought digital was a waste of money. Then last month on a job in Memphis, I misread a wall detail on the paper set by 6 inches. The whole foundation layout was off before we caught it. My foreman showed me his tablet with the same drawing zoomed in, and I saw exactly where I messed up. Anyone else ever switch tools because of a mistake like that?

Nah, paper still works fine if you take your time and double check.

12 years in and I still use paper for everything. That zoomed in view on a tablet gives you tunnel vision. Miss the whole picture. Had a guy on my crew miss a utility easement by 15 feet cause he was staring at one wall detail on his screen. Paper forces you to see the full sheet.
