Serious question, was last Saturday the best or worst day of my career?

I had 4 clients cancel and then a bride walk in with a photo of a haircut that I'd never done before, all in the same day. Has anyone else had a shift that flipped from terrible to great so fast?

Had something pretty similar a few months ago. A regular walked out mid haircut because their kid was sick, then the next person in my chair was a total nightmare client who argued about everything before we even started. But then a last minute walk in came in with this super complex color correction that turned out amazing and ended up being my best work of the month. Sometimes those horrible starts lead to wild comebacks if you just roll with it.

@the_terry I gotta be honest, I'm not sure it's that deep. You had a bad haircut and a bad client, then a good color job. That's just a Tuesday, man. Happens all the time in any service job. People love to act like a rough shift is some kind of spiritual test. Really it's just about keeping your cool until the next person walks in. Not every bad start needs to be some big comeback story. Sometimes it's just a day that ends okay.

@troy_price I get what you're saying but I think you're underselling it a bit. A bad haircut with a shitty client can mess with your head way more than a regular bad shift. Especially when you know you did good work but the person just wasn't having it. That kind of energy sticks with you, makes the next client harder to handle. Yeah it's just a Tuesday but those Tuesdays can feel like a week when they go wrong.
