Appreciation post: my old spotter in Philly taught me something huge about communication
I used to just yell "swing left" and hope my spotter caught it. After a near miss on a job near the Delaware River last summer (wind was gusting like crazy), my spotter Frank pulled me aside and said "stop shouting, give me a count and a direction." Now I call out "three feet left, wait for my signal" and it's way smoother. Has anyone else switched up how they talk to their ground crew?

Frank sounds like a real one. That near miss must have been scary. I had a similar wake up call a few years back with my guy Marco, he told me the same thing about counting and signaling. It really does change everything when you slow down and coordinate right. Good on you for listening and making that switch, it takes a minute to unlearn the old habits but it's so worth it.

Ngl @umar49, did it take anyone else way too long to realize counting isn't just for math class?
