Found an old load chart from 1984 in a job box yesterday
I was cleaning out a job box on a site outside Denver and found a faded load chart for a Grove 40 ton from 1984. The max capacity was listed at 40,000 pounds at a 10 foot radius, but the boom length was only 80 feet. My current 40 ton does 44,000 at that same radius with a 116 foot main boom. It kind of blew my mind how much the tech and engineering has shifted in 40 years, even if the basic math of counterweight and radius hasn't changed. Anyone else ever stumble on old operator manuals or charts that made you appreciate what the old timers worked with?
So are you saying the stick charts show something different than the official numbers? I've seen people claim that before but nobody ever points to a specific chart. What exactly did they fudge, the dates or the totals?
