My 740 score finally got me a real card, not a secured one
Pulled my FICO after 18 months of secured card use. Thought I'd be stuck in the 600s forever. Found out my score hit 740 last week through my bank's app. That was enough for an unsecured rewards card with a $2,500 limit. I had no idea a secured card could build that fast if you keep usage under 10%. Anyone else get a jump that quick after a balance transfer or a small CLI?
The same thing happens with working out or learning an instrument. People quit after a few months because they don't see results, but the folks who just keep showing up end up way ahead of everyone else. Nobody posts about the boring middle part where nothing seems to be happening. Credit building is the same deal. You just kept using the card and paying it off and the score did its thing in the background. Most people never make it past the first year because they get impatient or mess up one payment.
