My credit union guy in Tulsa said pay the $600 card off before the truck note, and he was dead right
Did it for 7 months straight instead of splitting payments and my score jumped 84 points, so now I'm wondering if anyone else got told to stack one debt at a time instead of spreading it around.
My buddy did something close to this a couple years back. He had four cards and a car loan and his banker told him to just hammer the smallest card first while paying minimums on the rest. Took him about a year but once that first one hit zero he rolled that payment right into the next one and it snowballed faster than he expected. His score went up around 70 points and he said the mental part was the biggest win, seeing one balance gone kept him from quitting. Splitting money across everything just kept all of them hanging around forever with no finish line in sight.
