Rant: That one Tuesday my credit score jumped 40 points for no clear reason

It was about three years ago, right after I paid off a $2,300 medical bill from a clinic in Tacoma. I checked my score on a whim and it had shot up from a 620 to a 660 overnight. The weird part was, the payment hadn't even been reported yet. I spent the whole week calling the bureaus trying to figure it out, and nobody could give me a straight answer. Has anyone else had a random, unexplained score jump that just stuck around?
