My 8 year old called me out on a bad pun and I had to admit it
My daughter rolled her eyes at the dinner table last Tuesday when I said the soup was 'so good it was souper'. She said 'dad, that one was not funny and you used it three times this week'. Stung a bit because she was right. I guess I need to retire some of the old standards before they go from bad to banned. Any of you guys have a joke your kids officially voted off the island?
'So good it was souper' is exactly the kind of thing my dad would have said too. My kid shut down my 'that joke is un- bear-able' bear pun last week by just staring blankly at me for 10 seconds. I guess some jokes just get old fast when you hear them every day.
Heard that. My son once just turned around and walked out of the room mid-pun. Didn't say a word, just left me standing there with my hand in the air. I told him his shoes were untied and he didn't even look down, just kept walking. Kids have this built-in dad joke detector that shuts down everything after a certain age.
