Question about those 'delete your data' services that popped up after the California law
I paid $15 for one last month thinking it was a scam, but they actually got a fitness app I used once in 2020 to confirm they erased my old workout logs and location history, which made me wonder if we should be able to do that ourselves for free.

Yeah, I saw a tech writer break down how those laws work. The thing is, companies are required to delete your data if you ask, but they make the process a pain on purpose. These services just automate sending all the legal requests for you, which is why they can actually get results.

Honestly it's the same trick with customer service lines and warranty claims.
