Back in 2019, a date asked me to pick them up from their ex's house
We matched on an app and planned a simple coffee meet. An hour before, she texted 'Can you get me? I'm at my old place and it's awkward.' I drove to the address, and she came out looking stressed, saying her ex was inside. It made the whole vibe weird from the start. Has anyone else had a date start with a rescue mission?

Wait, did she actually say "old place" or did she just mean her ex's house? Because that's a pretty big detail to leave out. Starting a date by picking someone up from their ex's spot is a whole different level of messy. That's not a rescue mission, that's you walking into the middle of their drama before you've even had a sip of coffee. Honestly, I would have turned right around.

HOLY CRAP I didn't even catch that at first but you're totally right. If she said "old place" that could mean literally anything, but if she meant her ex's house that changes everything. Like you're not rescuing someone from a broken down car you're walking into a war zone of leftover feelings and bad decisions. I'd be side eyeing the whole situation before we even got to the restaurant. That's not a date, that's you being the third wheel in a story that hasn't ended yet.
