That guy who brought his mom on a first date to Olive Garden in Toledo
I matched with a guy named Mark on Hinge last spring and we agreed to meet at the Olive Garden on Reynolds Road in Toledo. He showed up with his mom and said she wanted to make sure I was "nice enough" before he committed to a second date. She asked me my salary and if I wanted kids within the first 10 minutes, then Mark spent the whole time texting his ex. Has anyone else dealt with a date bringing a parent along unsolicited?

holy crap, that's insane lol. going to Olive Garden is already a bold first date choice, but bringing your mom to grill you about your salary? that's a whole new level of weird. hope you ran for the hills after that mess

honestly i don't get why everyone is acting like this is some huge deal. people are way too dramatic about first dates these days. so he brought his mom, so what? maybe she was just being protective and wanted to meet you. i've had friends bring their sisters or roommates along to dates for basically the same reason. the salary question is a little nosy but older people are just like that sometimes. the real red flag here is him texting his ex the whole time, not really his mom being there. like yeah it's a bit weird but it's not the end of the world. you could have just laughed it off and seen if there was anything there if he wasn't glued to his phone.

Man, texting his ex while his mom interrogates you about kids and salary... that's a whole other level of wild. Hope you got a free breadstick out of it at least.
