Tried the 'be super honest in my bio' approach and it backfired hard

So I got tired of the usual dating app fluff and decided to put in my bio that I'm a bartender at a dive bar and work late nights, plus that I'm not looking for anything serious right now. Thought it would save everyone time. Within 2 days I got 3 messages from guys who wanted me to buy them drinks after my shift, and one guy literally showed up at the bar asking for me by name even though we never matched. He said he saw my profile and figured it was a 'sign' to come meet me. I had to get my manager to tell him to leave. Learned that being too specific can attract the wrong kind of attention. Has anyone else tried the 'brutally honest' approach and had it blow up in their face?

Honestly I get why that's annoying but like... are we really calling this a stalker situation? Guy saw a public profile, went to a public bar, asked for you by name. Creepy? Sure. But your manager asked him to leave and he left right? Feels like we're jumping to the worst case scenario pretty fast here. I mean you literally put your workplace and schedule in your bio then act surprised when people show up there. Ngl maybe just don't put where you work down to the exact bar name if you're not tryna get visitors.

Saw this article about how dating apps are basically feeding grounds for stalkers now, and your story fits right in. That guy showing up at your work is straight up scary, I don't blame you for having your manager intervene. Being honest about being casual and working late should filter out the unserious people but instead it just brought out the creeps who think late night bar = easy access. The whole "sign" thing is a major red flag too, like buddy you're not in a rom-com. Maybe keep the bio vague and just drop the specifics during early chats instead.

Yeah @jessej23 I saw that article too, it's wild how apps basically hand out your info to anyone. Putting a vague bio and sharing details later feels way safer than advertising your whole life upfront.
