Just lost $50 on a deepfake detection tool that missed everything

I paid for 'VerifyMedia Pro' last week after seeing their ad on YouTube (you know, the one with the slick demo). Tried it on a viral video of a politician saying something crazy and it came back as 'real' - no red flags at all. Turns out the video was literally from a known parody account with obvious AI glitches in the background. How are we supposed to trust anything when the tools meant to catch fakes are this bad? Has anyone found a detection service that actually works for normal people like us?

Tried a few different ones myself and Deepware actually caught stuff that others missed. Still not perfect but way better than wasting money on those YouTube ad scams.

@emeryj66 Same here actually. Deepware flagged a deepfake of a politician my cousin shared. He still didn't believe me though. These tools help but people gotta want to be wrong first.

My buddy Dave paid $30 for something similar last month and it flagged a real news clip as fake. He wasted two hours arguing with his group chat about it before realizing the tool was just trash.
