Warning: That deleted reddit thread about the local reservoir had real info

I tried to look up water test results for our town's reservoir last month and found a thread that was already deleted. Managed to pull it from cache and it had actual contamination numbers from 2022 the city never released publicly. Has anyone else found deleted posts that turned out to be true?

Used to think people crying about deleted threads were just being dramatic, but man did that change my mind real fast. Found a cached version of a post about our local water authority covering up lead levels and it matched up with some random tests a guy did on his own. City tried saying it was just old pipes but the numbers in that deleted thread were way worse than anything official. Now I check archive sites every time something feels off, especially about public health stuff. Makes you wonder how many other deleted posts had the real story all along.

Respectfully, I see it a little different @claire_davis31. Cached pages don't always tell the whole story. Found one once about a nearby water main break that got deleted, turned out the person who posted it had their dates all wrong and the numbers didn't match any real tests. Archive sites can grab stuff out of context too, like a rough draft that never got verified. Not saying there aren't real cover-ups, but a deleted post doesn't automatically mean it's the truth. Sometimes posts get removed because they're just bad info.
