Compared my old tablet to a new one at a friend's studio... night and day difference

I've been making digital art on my old iPad Air 2 for like 4 years now. It worked fine for me, just doodles and stuff. Then last week my buddy let me try his new iPad Pro with the M2 chip and the Apple Pencil 2. The difference in pressure sensitivity alone was insane... I drew a line and it actually responded to how hard I pressed. On my old one it either showed up or it didn't. No in-between. Felt like I was using a toy before. Has anyone else made that switch and felt like it changed how they draw?

Same thing happens with a lot of stuff once you try the higher end version. It's like once you know what you're missing, you can't unsee it. Kinda makes you wonder how much we're just settling for mediocre tools without realizing it.

Respectfully gotta push back a little here @corap21. I think a lot of times we confuse "better" with "more expensive." Like yeah, a Cintiq feels amazing compared to a basic stylus. But did that basic setup stop anyone from making good art before? Nope. People drew masterpieces with sticks in the dirt. I've seen pros use cheap stuff and still crush it. The tool helps, sure. But it's not the reason someone's work is good or bad.

Man you nailed it with "once you know what you're missing, you can't unsee it." That's exactly how I felt when I upgraded my drawing setup. I was perfectly happy with my basic stylus and sketchbook app until I tried a friend's Cintiq at his place. The way the screen felt under the pen, the way the brush actually reacted to tiny changes in my hand movement. I realized I'd been fighting my old setup for years without even knowing it. It's a weird feeling, like finding out you've been walking around with a rock in your shoe and just got used to it.
