Seeing posts vanish on my discussion board has me worried.
I help manage a forum for our neighborhood. We talk about local news and events. Last Friday, a bunch of threads about the new park plan were deleted. The mods just said 'violates guidelines' but didn't specify how. It's frustrating because we were having civil talks. Now people are scared to post anything. How do you deal with vague moderation like this? Is there a way to ask for better reasons without causing more trouble?

Ugh, ask for examples... keeps things civil.

Asking for examples can sometimes shut down a good argument before it starts. People get defensive when they have to prove their point on the spot. It feels less like keeping things civil and more like a test.

Yeah, asking for examples is smart, even if it makes me realize I talk in circles sometimes. Samc98 has a point about checking other topics too, since it's easy to get focused on one thing. I should probably take my own advice before posting another long rant.
