That conference in Chicago last spring changed my email strategy completely

I went to a digital marketing conference in Chicago back in April. A speaker named Jenny from a mid-size ecommerce brand broke down how they doubled their open rates. She showed us their actual numbers from a six month test against standard industry practices. The trick was segmenting by past purchase behavior instead of just demographics. I tried it on my own list of about 3,000 subscribers and saw a 22% lift in clicks within two weeks. Has anyone else had success with behavior based email lists over the usual age and location stuff?

Holy crap, 22% lift in just two weeks? That's wild. I gotta be honest, I've been slacking hard on my own email list and just sending the same generic stuff to everyone. The past purchase thing makes so much sense though, like why would I send cat food coupons to someone who only buys dog toys. I'm gonna try segmenting my list this weekend by what people actually bought last time.

Just don't forget the people who bought nothing yet, they might be your biggest opportunity of all.

Feels good when you finally find something that actually works for a change.
