From my stay in Chiang Mai, the digital nomad crowd is leaning way more into longer term rentals... it's a whole different pace.

Wait, really? I mean every single cafe I go to here is just people signing year-long leases now.

Actually I'm seeing the total opposite lately. Everyone I know is doing way more month-to-month spots, keeps things flexible. You miss out on exploring new neighborhoods if you lock in somewhere too long.

Seriously? Is it really that big of a thing?

The Nimman area last month had maybe two or three "for rent" signs total. People talk about this shift like it's a law, but it just feels like regular apartment turnover to me. Most folks I meet are still on tourist visas and can't even sign a year lease if they wanted to. The whole scene seems way more mixed, with some staying put and others bouncing around every few weeks. Calling it a clear trend feels like we're just noticing the few people who do it.
