Lost a $200 monthly gig because I booked a co-working space with bad WiFi in Medellin

Last month I took a client meeting from a trendy co-working spot in El Poblado. Looked great on Instagram but the upload speed was under 2 Mbps. Video call kept dropping and they said I seemed unprofessional. Now I always test the connection with a speed test before booking any space. Has anyone else had a client relationship fall apart over something like bad internet?

Medellin's building construction often kills any cell signal too, not just WiFi.

Man, that sucks. Bad WiFi is a killer for remote work especially in Medellin. Those old buildings are concrete nightmares for signals. I don't think Piper's right about it being an excuse though - clients see dropped calls as you not being serious. You dodged a bullet if they'd drop you that fast. But that doesn't make losing the money hurt any less.

That "bad WiFi" excuse sounds like a cop out for a client who was already looking for a reason to leave.
