My sister's lawyer told me I was 'too honest' on my application and it threw me off
She said I should have downplayed how much I can actually do day-to-day because they use that to deny people. I really thought being upfront about my bad days and good days would help, but now I wonder if I shot myself in the foot. Has anyone else had an attorney say something that made you second-guess your whole approach?
My buddy had the same thing happen when he applied for disability, the lawyer told him to stop listing every single thing he couldn't do. He was being super honest about bad days too and ended up getting denied because they said he was "too functional" on paper. After he changed his app to focus on his worst days most of the time, he got approved no problem.
That's interesting, @felix414. Did your buddy ever say what he changed specifically? I've always wondered if it's more about how you describe your limitations rather than just being brutally honest about everything. The system seems to want a clear picture of your worst days, not the average ones.
