Paid $40 for a password manager and it caught a fake login from Russia last month

I used to just use the same password for everything because I figured nobody would bother hacking me. Then I noticed weird login attempts on my email one day. I got a family plan for Bitwarden for like $40 a year. Last month it blocked someone trying to get into my Amazon account from Moscow. Has anyone else had a cheap password manager actually stop something scary?

Lol bro that's wild. $40 and Moscow hackers get blocked? Sounds like a steal compared to the alternative. I had a similar thing happen with a free password manager last year and it blocked a login from Nigeria trying to get into my Netflix account of all things. Guess they wanted to watch Squid Game for free. The best part is the password manager knew it was them before I even woke up, so I slept through the whole thing. Honestly at this point I'm paying $40 just for the peace of mind and the occasional bragging rights about thwarting international criminals.

Last week I got a notification that someone tried to log into my Steam account from Vietnam. I don't even own anything good on Steam, just a bunch of games I bought on sale and never played. So some guy in Hanoi really wanted my copy of Farming Simulator 2015 apparently. I called my buddy and told him I'm basically a global security expert now because I stopped an international heist on my virtual tractor collection. The $40 feels even cheaper when I think about how much time I'd waste resetting passwords if I didn't have this thing.

Is it just me or does every online service eventually become a target for some random person halfway across the world trying to get into your account? I've noticed that even my old gaming forums from ten years ago get login attempts out of nowhere.
