The day I stopped using duct tape for everything in my house

I used to patch every little crack, loose wire, and broken hinge with duct tape. Last month my bathroom cabinet door fell off for the third time and I grabbed the tape again, but my neighbor saw me and laughed. He handed me a $4 tube of construction adhesive and some clamps, and showed me how to glue it right. That door hasn't budged since, and now I actually look for the proper fix instead of just taping things shut. Anybody else have a go-to quick fix they finally kicked?

Have you ever noticed how the simplest tools are often the ones that really stick with us? That cheap little tube probably cost less than a coffee, but it sounds like it solved a problem you'd been wrestling with for ages. I've had the same thing happen with a basic tube of super glue or a roll of duct tape. Funny how a few bucks can save you from buying a whole new thing you thought was broken.
