Just walked into a drafting shop near downtown Phoenix
Saw a whole stack of architectural drawings just sitting out on a counter by the window. Anyone could have taken a photo through the glass. If you're working on commercial projects or anything with a non-disclosure, lock that stuff up or at least keep it away from public view. Has anyone else run into this kind of loose security at print shops?

@brianreed nailed it with that Tempe story. My buddy had prints for a new chip fab facility done at a shop near the airport here. He walked in to pick them up and found his drawings sitting right next to the register where customers pay. Anyone could have snapped a picture while the clerk was on the phone. The firm he was doing the work for would have lost it if they knew. Took him a week to find a place that kept client stuff behind the counter and actually checked IDs before handing over a roll of drawings.

Yikes, that's a major red flag. Did he say anything to the shop about it, or did he just grab the prints and leave? I'm curious if they even realized how bad that setup was, or if they just brushed it off when he brought it up. A chip fab facility is about as sensitive as it gets, you're talking proprietary processes and layouts that competitors would pay serious money for. It takes one person with a phone and a grudge to cause a nightmare lawsuit. Hopefully he found a shop that treats that stuff with the seriousness it deserves.

Dude yes, same thing happened to me at a shop in Tempe last year, blueprints for a new medical building just spread out on a table near the front window where anyone walking by could snap a pic. I've noticed a lot of these places treat client work like it's no big deal, but one photo leak could get a firm sued. It's wild how casual they are about stuff that's clearly under wraps.
