The day I swapped my old lineman's for a stubby and saved my knuckles
Back when I started out in Phoenix back in 2011, I used to jam my regular 9 inch lineman's pliers into tight panel boxes all the time. Man, I'd scrape my hands up something awful, especially on those cramped residential jobs. Last year, my foreman handed me a 5 inch stubby set from Klein after I whined about it for the hundredth time. Now I can't believe I fought with that big tool for so long. Has anyone else found a small tool change that made a big difference in your daily work?

Funny you mention that, I actually read a blog post from some sparky out in Colorado who said the same thing about stubby drivers. He was talking about how he kept a 4-in-1 stubby in his pouch for tight spots and it saved his hands on commercial drop ceilings. Made me think about my own stubborn habit of using full-sized tools when I don't have to. I still keep my regular lineman's in the truck for heavy stuff, but having a pair of 5 inch side cutters in my pocket for everyday work has been a game changer.

People make it sound like you're punching yourself in the hand every day with a full size tool. It's not that big of a deal. If a stubby works for you, cool, but it's not some life changing revelation.
