Old Otis controllers vs new MCE boards - night and day difference
I worked on a 1980s Otis elevator in a 12 story building in downtown Atlanta last month. That old relay logic controller weighed maybe 400 pounds and took up a whole room. We swapped it for a new MCE iBox controller that fits in a cabinet the size of a microwave. The before and after on response time was crazy, went from 4 second door delays to instant. Anyone else seeing a big shift with these older buildings finally upgrading?

Did that old relay logic have the notorious Otis harpoon selector too?

You ever run into one of those old Otis jobs where the door operator sounds like a washing machine full of rocks? I had a building in Nashville that still had the original 1977 setup, and @hayden_craig95 is right, that harpoon selector was a nightmare to get moving smooth again after a couple decades of dust and grime buildup. We finally ripped it out for an MCE board two years ago and the tenants thought we replaced the whole car, they couldn't believe how quiet it got.
