A 1970s bathroom floor tile job turned into a two day puzzle
I pulled up the old vinyl in a house from 1978 and found the subfloor was a patchwork of three different plywood grades, none of them level. It took me a full day just to map and plane it all down before I could even think about the new tile. What's the longest a simple prep job has ever set you back?

Mapping that patchwork subfloor sounds brutal lol

My buddy found a fourth type under some old carpet, just a sheet of plywood over the original planks. He said it felt like a bad treasure hunt.

My last house had three different subfloor types, it was a nightmare.

Sounds like a DIY horror movie.
