My mentor insisted I stop using floral foam for my centerpieces
I switched to chicken wire and water tubes for a wedding in Portland, and the arrangements held up way better over 8 hours. Anyone have other foam-free mechanics that work for large installations?

Saw someone using moss and bent willow for structure once.

Wait, moss holds structure? The kind that grows on trees? I've only ever seen it used for looks in terrariums. How do you keep it from just crumbling apart once it dries out? That seems like it would fall apart in a week.

My neighbor built a whole garden arch from willow branches last spring. It's wild how much free material you can find if you know where to look. I see people using old pallets for planters and broken pots for drainage all the time now. Feels like a quiet push back against buying everything new.
