Can we talk about 'no sugar added' fruit cups?

Three years ago, my doctor in Tampa told me to watch my sugar, so I started buying those little fruit cups that say 'no sugar added' on the label. Last week, I finally looked at the nutrition facts and saw a single cup still had 24 grams of sugar, all from the fruit juice they pack it in. Isn't that label just tricking people who don't read the fine print?

You hit the nail on the head about the fine print. That label is totally legal but it's a total scam for people trying to cut sugar. "No sugar added" just means they didn't pour extra white sugar in, but the juice it's swimming in is pure sugar water. It's all natural sugar, but your body doesn't care where it comes from. The food companies rely on you not turning the cup around to read the back. It's sneaky as hell.

Yeah, it's crazy how they get away with that. I read an article that said the "no sugar added" label is one of the most misleading things in the grocery store. It tricks you into thinking something is healthy when the natural sugars are already through the roof. Why do you think they're allowed to use wording that basically hides the truth?
