Had to pick between a city job and a remote gig for my future

Got offered a $75k office role in Chicago and a $68k fully remote position last month. I chose the remote one, and now I'm wondering if I'll miss out on building real connections. Do you think in-person work will still matter in 10 years, or will everyone be remote?

But what kind of work do you do? Building connections is a lot easier in some fields than others when you're remote.

Building connections is a lot easier in some fields" - I mean, is it really that different? A connection is just talking to someone. You can do that from anywhere now. It's not like you need to be in the same room to have a real chat.

Yeah, I feel you on that, sometimes a video call just can't replace grabbing a coffee with someone.

You mentioned it's easier in some fields, which is true. A friend in sales lost a big client because his remote team never built the same trust as the local guys who showed up for coffee. Some jobs still run on handshakes.
