My phone's battery was dying by 3 PM until I tried a setting I found in a forum
I was getting maybe 5 hours of use from a full charge on my Pixel 7. I read a review for a battery pack, but a comment below it said to turn off 'Now Playing' in the sound settings. I did that two weeks ago and my phone now lasts until bedtime. Has anyone else found a simple software fix that made a big difference like this?

Totally agree with robertcarr, turning stuff off feels like a step backwards. Had the same thing with my old phone, some background location service was killing it. Took forever to find the setting but it was a game changer once I did.

My sister had a phone that would die by lunchtime every day. She refused to turn anything off because she wanted the full experience. It was a whole thing, her carrying a charger everywhere. Eventually the battery swelled up and she had to replace the phone anyway. Sometimes the hardware just can't keep up with the software updates.

Turning off features defeats the purpose of having a smart phone. You paid for the hardware and the software experience. Now Playing is a cool, passive feature that identifies music. Disabling it is just admitting the battery can't handle the phone's own functions. My Pixel 7 lasts fine with everything on. Maybe people should just charge their phone midday instead of crippling it.
