Serious question, are those 'smart' water bottles worth the hype?
I dropped $60 on a Hidrate Spark last month because the app tracks your sips and glows to remind you. Honestly, it just feels like a heavy, fussy cup now (the battery needs a charge every week, and the app is clunky). On one hand, it did get me to drink more water, but on the other, it's a lot of money and tech for something a regular bottle does fine. Has anyone found a smart bottle that actually feels worth it, or is this whole category a gimmick?

My friend got a LARQ bottle for the UV cleaning feature, which is the only smart function that seems to solve a real problem. For just tracking water, a free app like Plant Nanny or a mark on a regular bottle works fine. The tech feels like a solution looking for a problem once the newness wears off. I'd say return the Hidrate if you still can and just set a phone reminder.

Ever notice how we keep buying tech to fix simple habits? It's like we're scared of just doing the thing, so we add a screen and a battery to make it feel like progress. My smart scale made me crazy for a month before I went back to just eating better without the data. These bottles feel the same, turning a basic need into a chore of charging and app updates. The reminder is useful, but the fancy package just adds new problems to solve.

Totally get that feeling with the smart scale. It turns a simple check in into this whole data management task. The bottle thing is the same, adding a layer of tech upkeep to a basic act of drinking water. It's like we're outsourcing the simple act of paying attention to ourselves. The reminder is the only useful part, and a phone alarm does that for free. The rest just gives you more stuff to worry about instead of less.

Honestly it's just a water bottle at the end of the day. Tbh if a blinking light gets you to drink more then cool, but it's not that deep. People act like this is some big life changing gadget. Ngl it feels like we're overthinking a container. Just drink when you're thirsty and skip the extra junk.
