Almost gave up after my garage roof leaked during a rainstorm last Sunday

I was two days into insulating and drywalling when a storm rolled through and water started dripping right onto my brand new workbench. Had to tear down 4 sheets of drywall and start over because the wood got all warped. Has anyone else had to redo a big chunk of their garage project due to weather?

Man, that stings. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me last fall. Finished hanging all the drywall in my two-car garage, got the tape and mud on the first coat, then a rogue rainstorm found a gap in the roof flashing and soaked a whole back corner. Had to cut out a six-foot section of the ceiling and the top foot of the wall, then track down the leak and patch the roof before I could even think about redoing that drywall. It's such a gut punch when you're making progress and water just wipes it all out.

Read somewhere that something like 60% of home insurance claims involve water damage, which honestly makes me feel a little better about my own garage drywall fiasco last spring. It's like the universe has a weird way of reminding you that none of this stuff is ever truly done.

Feel like that's just how home improvement works sometimes, you fix one thing and the universe finds another way to test you lol. Always seems to be water that catches you off guard too, like the house has a personal grudge against dry progress. Guess that's why @the_rowan people say you never really own a house, it just lets you live there while it plots its next surprise.
