Unpopular opinion: My bio-art exhibit using edited bacteria has people calling me irresponsible.
I used gene-edited bacteria to create living paintings, and the backlash made me question where art ends and ethics begin.

What exact safety protocols did you have for the edited bacteria?

Hold on, that question makes it sound like we had a full plan laid out. In truth, the safety steps were simple and mostly about keeping things in check. We weren't getting ready for a movie, just trying not to make a mess. The changes were small, so the danger was low, but we still followed lab rules. It's not like we had a hidden book of what to do if things went wrong.

Seriously? @susansingh has a point here. Safety steps are NOT just about following lab rules, they're about stopping real problems. What exactly did you do to make sure the edited bacteria didn't get out? Were there any special boxes or checks in place? This stuff is TOO important to be vague about. Can you give us a clear answer on the steps you took?
