Criticized my UFO footage by a skeptic and it made me rethink everything

Some guy on here pointed out my video from last Tuesday looked exactly like a drone with a strobe light, and after I went back and looked at flight radar data for that time, I had to admit he was right. Has anyone else had their mind changed by someone being blunt about a sighting?

Honestly, I remember reading this pretty interesting breakdown on a science blog that really changed how I look at these things. The guy who wrote it had seen a lot of these viral UFO clips and he figured out most of them were just balloons or drones or even birds with weird lighting. After I read that, I started checking flight data and weather balloons for any "sighting" I saw online, and most of them vanished. Tbh, it's kind of humbling to realize your eyes can trick you so easily, especially at night when there's nothing else to compare it to. Ngl, I still want to believe there's something out there, but I'm way more careful now before getting excited about a blurry light in the sky.

That thing about your eyes tricking you so easily really hits home, especially when you're staring up at a dark sky with nothing but city lights to mess with your depth perception. It's like what @irisowens mentioned about Mick West's blog, once you learn how much pareidolia messes with your brain, you start seeing those "crafts" everywhere in just regular clouds or bugs. I still catch myself getting hyped for a second when I see a weird light, but now I just grab my phone and check flight data before I let my imagination run wild.

That blog you mentioned sounds like the one from Mick West, the guy who runs Metabunk. He does a killer job breaking down how pareidolia and bad camera settings can make a Chinese lantern look like a tic tac craft. I used to be the guy who'd get hyped over every grainy video, but now I pull up FlightRadar24 before I even hit play on a clip. It's kind of a bummer sometimes, but it's also way more satisfying when you actually do find something that can't be explained away by a 747 or a weather balloon.
