PSA: I found a way to recover a letter I accidentally deleted 8 months ago
I typed out a whole apology letter to my brother but hit delete instead of save, and I was crushed. Turns out Google Drive keeps version history for 30 days even after you trash something, so check that before you give up.

Kind of a stretch to call it a PSA when you only found it by accident and it's just a 30 day window... 8 months is way past that anyway. Maybe just rewrite the letter, it can't be that hard to remember what you said if it was that important to send in the first place. Getting "crushed" over a deleted draft feels a little dramatic, don't you think?

I mean yeah the 30 day thing is rough but I've definitely had drafts sit that long and then disappear. It's not always about remembering word for word what you wrote. Sometimes it was a specific phrasing or the way you put something that hit right. Rewriting from scratch can make you sound like a different person. And calling someone dramatic for being upset about losing something they clearly cared about feels a little cold. Not everyone types out letters like they're writing a grocery list, some of us actually put real thought into what we say.
