My scuba diving repair side gig pays better than my IT job ever did, and I used to think tech careers were the only stable path

I used to think you needed a degree and a desk job to make real money. Spent 8 years in IT support, sitting in a cubicle, staring at a screen. Then I started fixing old dive gear for friends on weekends. Now I charge $75 an hour to rebuild regulators and it's all cash. Switched full time last June when I realized I was making triple what I did before. No overhead, no boss, just me and a workbench. Has anyone else found a random skill that turned into their main income?

Wow, that's awesome! I started flipping used books online and it blew up way more than my old retail job.

Flipping books isn't exactly a career move though. Feels like a side hustle that could dry up any time.
