Fixed my 2007 printer with a rubber band and a paperclip
Last week my old HP printer started jamming every time I tried to print a shipping label. The rubber pickup roller had worn down smooth so it couldn't grab the paper anymore. I wrapped a thick rubber band around the roller and used a paperclip to hook the slack underneath keep it tight. Printed 15 labels since then without a single jam lol. Has anyone else bodged a printer part back to life with random stuff around the house?
Man's greatest modern invention is figuring out how to keep decade-old garbage running with office supplies. HP should just start shipping paperclips with their printers.
Wait, isn't the tape supposed to go on the rubber part of the roller, not wrapped around the whole thing? I had a similar Canon that jammed constantly and a little strip of electrical tape on the worn part fixed it for like 6 months. You must be wrapping it real tight to get it to work at all, or maybe yours is a different model than mine was.
