I finally looked up the actual cost of pothole damage to cars in the US last year
Found a report from AAA that said pothole damage costs drivers around $3 billion a year nationwide, and that number honestly made me stop and think about how many of those claims start with just one bad hit on a street like Elm Street here in town, has anyone here ever actually filed a claim with the city and gotten paid out?

My buddy Mike hit a pothole on Oak Street last spring and his tire blew out, but the city denied his claim saying it was "already scheduled for repair.

Yeah that's such a classic city move honestly. They just have a blanket excuse ready for everything like "oh yeah we knew about it so sorry not sorry." It's like they think calling it "scheduled" means they don't have to take responsibility for anything. Reminds me of that time my neighbor's car got wrecked by a tree branch the city said was "under review" for six months. They're just covering themselves legally more than actually helping people.
