That guy at Thunderhill who laughed at my brake pads

Last month at Thunderhill Raceway, I pulled up next to a dude in a modded Civic. He saw my stock pads and laughed. Said I was gonna cook them by lap 3. He was right. By lap 4 I had zero pedal feel. Had to baby it back to the pits. Anyone else get roasted for a budget setup and learn the hard way?

Depends on the track and how hard you're pushing it... stock pads can work fine for a casual day if you're not riding them constantly. Brake fade happens to everyone eventually, even guys with fancy setups if they're overdriving. That Civic dude probably cooked his own brakes later in the session too. Maybe you just needed a better cool-down lap instead of full send every corner.

Cool-down laps are UNDERRATED, most people skip them and blame their gear.

Short cool down laps saved my pads last season, same thing @lunah12 mentioned about letting brakes breathe.
