The airport baggage carousel taught me patience last month and I failed
I landed in Denver last Tuesday after a 4 hour flight and stood at carousel 7 like a good little traveler. First bag popped out 12 minutes later, some bright pink suitcase I watched three people grab and drop. Then nothing for 8 more minutes. I started getting that weird anxiety where you double check your tags even though you know you packed it yourself. By minute 25 I had watched the same blue duffel circle past five times and started naming the lonely bags. Finally my black roller bag came around, but it had a giant scrape across the front that wasn't there before. Now I'm curious, does anyone else get unreasonably mad at people who crowd the belt before their bags even come out?

The "lonely bags" thing got me. I swear the carousel is a psychological experiment they run on all of us. But here's something nobody talks about: the people who crowd the belt aren't just impatient, they're also the reason your bag got that scrape. I watched a guy last trip practically dive into the opening to grab his duffel, and he knocked three other bags off onto the floor. Mine came out 10 minutes later with a dirty footprint on it. So next time you're naming the lonely bags, remember the crowd is causing the damage too.

Gotta ask you this - did you actually file a claim with the airline for that scrape? Cause I swear half of us just accept the damage and move on when we could get reimbursed. I stood at carousel 5 in Chicago last month for 35 minutes watching people literally climb over each other like it was Black Friday at Target. The crowding thing drives me nuts because it makes the carousel stop and start all jerky, which is probably what mashed your bag up.
