Tried to fix my own roof leak and made it ten times worse
Last Tuesday I noticed a wet spot on my ceiling after that big rain. Watched a YouTube video for 20 minutes. Felt confident. Climbed up there with a tube of roofing cement from Home Depot. Smeared it all over what I thought was the crack. Next storm came Thursday. Water poured in like a faucet. Two buckets now. Gotta call a roofer tomorrow. Anyone else ever turn a small problem into a disaster?
My old landlord used to slap that stuff on wet shingles all the time and I just assumed it was fine. But last year I patched a small leak on my own garage roof during a dry spell and it held PERFECTLY compared to that mess he always made. Definitely changed my mind about it needing a dry surface to actually bond right.
