The worst update bricked my bluetooth speaker last Tuesday
I was at a coffee shop in Portland trying to connect my Anker speaker for a quick playlist, and some guy at the next table just said 'hope you got the warranty.' Turns out the firmware update from last month made half the units drop connection if you're more than 6 feet away. Has anyone else had this problem or found a fix?

Are you sure it's the update and not just a bad battery or the cold weather in Portland? Bluetooth speakers can act up from all sorts of things, and firmware updates don't usually break range that badly. I'd try resetting the speaker and re-pairing it before blaming the software.

Honestly, that reminds me of the time my buddy tried to fix his truck stereo by hitting it with a tire iron. Didn't help the Bluetooth either, but it sure shut it up. Bad batteries and cold weather though, I've seen that mess with stuff way more than any update.

Oh totally, @kai_webb91's story about the tire iron made me laugh. My uncle once tried to fix his TV remote by microwaving it for 10 seconds because he thought it would "recharge the signal." Spoiler alert, it did not work.
But yeah, that range issue sounds awful. I'd probably just try turning everything off and on again, maybe move the speaker closer to your phone.
