Swapped my old CRT monitor for an LCD in 2007 and lost 30 FPS on Quake III
I mean, maybe it's just me but I swear the refresh rate lag was brutal. My CRT could do 120 Hz at 800x600 and the LCD capped at 60 Hz with visible ghosting. Anyone else stick with CRT way too long for gaming?

Oh man, I remember reading about that back when everyone was switching over! I heard the input lag was so bad that pro Quake players were hoarding old CRTs from thrift stores just to keep their edge.

Yeah that CRT thing was wild... I remember my buddy drove two hours to pick up a 19 inch Sony Trinitron from some guy on Craigslist just for his Quake 3 sessions. Said he could feel the difference immediately in his railgun shots. It's honestly kind of sad how much of an advantage old tech gave them, feels like they had to fight to keep their edge.

I read a piece from a Quake pro named Fatal1ty where he talked about this exact thing. He claimed he kept a backup CRT in his closet for years because the LCDs at the time had something like 30ms of input lag compared to almost zero on the tube. The ghosting on fast movements was apparently so bad that it threw off his flick shots in tournaments.
