Showerthought: My neighbor's cold case chats have me watching the block closer
We were talking about a local mystery he's been following from a true crime forum. Now I notice small stuff I never did before, like a car that's always parked weird. Does chatting with other sleuths make you pay more attention to your own area?

Got way too into a podcast about missing hikers last year. Started timing my own dog walks by when this one guy in a blue hoodie always jogs past my street. Never would have clocked his schedule before.

Totally get it, I once memorized my neighbor's trash day schedule and felt like a secret agent. Ryan, we might need a support group for people who turn podcasts into paranoia.

Kinda makes you wonder if you're spotting real clues or just making normal stuff seem shady, lmao. My brain's been on detective mode since I joined those forums.

Spot something weird enough times and it stops being weird, it just becomes a fact. Like that one car with the busted taillight that's always parked three streets over, or how your neighbor only buys groceries on Tuesday nights. Once your brain locks onto a pattern it can't let go, price.ben. Your detective mode isn't making normal stuff shady, it's just finally noticing how reliably strange the normal stuff actually is, lmao.
