Try deleting the printer completely from Devices and Printers first. Then restart your computer. Reinstall the driver fresh without the printer plugged in. @gray_morgan had the same issue - he spent ages on driver updates that didn't work. After a clean removal it worked in 10 minutes. Also check if Windows update is blocking stuff, that can mess with scanner drivers.

Had a buddy who's not super into tech, @amy_craig28, took him almost an hour just to update his graphics driver last month. He was ready to throw his PC out the window.
