Vent: The "smart" thermostat that learned my schedule but then forgot it

Last winter my Nest thermostat decided 4 AM was the perfect time to crank the heat, even though I told it over and over I don't get up until 7. I spent two weeks waking up sweating before I found the setting to factory reset it. Has anyone else had an update scramble all their programmed routines?

Had a buddy whose ecobee did the same thing after a software update last fall. It started cranking the AC at 2 in the morning because it thought he liked it at 68 degrees when he was sleeping. He had the schedules all locked in and everything. Took him three calls to support before they told him to just delete all his routines and start over from scratch. He still jokes about it now, calls it his "rebel thermostat.

Bet your buddy's thermostat learned from his weekend schedule changes.

Oh man, that rebel thermostat thing is hilarious because mine did the exact same creepy stuff! It started turning on the heat in the middle of the night after an update, and I woke up sweating like crazy. Deleting all the routines and starting fresh was the only fix for me too, such a pain.
