My neighbor's 5 minute rant changed how I see food delivery apps

I was complaining to my neighbor Dave last Tuesday about how DoorDash messed up my order again. He just looked at me and said 'you paid $8 delivery for a $12 sandwich that's cold and you're mad at them?' That hit different because I realized I've been wasting like $40 a week on fees and tips. Now I actually walk the 3 blocks to the deli myself and save the money. Has anyone else had a random conversation that made you look at your habits different?

I guess I see it a little different though. Some nights I'm so wiped after work that I would honestly pay extra just to not have to put on real pants and go outside again. That $8 fee is my lazy tax and I'm ok with it sometimes.

@blairc90 I call it the "pants optional" fee and honestly some days it's absolutely worth it. But Dave's math is brutal when you add it up over a month it's basically a whole extra meal. Now I just keep a box of frozen pizza for those "can't even" nights and my wallet thanks me.

Ok but here's something nobody's talking about - those delivery fees add up way faster than frozen pizza prices. I did the math once on @elliotm57's situation and realized the $8 fee plus tip basically buys you a whole frozen pizza and then some. Plus the frozen one lasts longer in the freezer for those rough days. I swear by the cheap pepperoni ones from the grocery store, they hit different when you're exhausted.
