That time my fridge filter replacement turned into a $90 mess
I bought a knockoff water filter for my Kenmore fridge off Amazon for $12 last month, and it started leaking all over the kitchen floor at 2 AM. The cheap plastic cracked right where it connects to the line, and I had to shut off the water and mop up for an hour. Has anyone else had a budget filter fail like that or was I just unlucky?

Was the crack on the plastic part or the rubber seal?

Oh wow good catch! The crack was actually on the plastic part right where it meets the rubber seal, sort of a hairline thing that spread over time. I think that area takes a lot of stress from opening and closing so those plastic pieces tend to get brittle after a year or two.
