Update: I just used a fairness checklist on our hiring tool and caught a big issue.

What if laws made companies face real penalties when their biased algorithms hurt people? Like, Amazon's old hiring tool that filtered out women's resumes got scrapped after bad press, but what actually changed there? I mean, without regular checks and real costs for getting it wrong, it's too easy for companies to just say sorry and keep using broken systems. Maybe we need rules that force them to show their work and prove the tools are fair over time.

Showerthought: My team's anime chat during remote meetings is actually killing our focus.

But is it really hurting your work that much? I've been in chats like that and yeah they can be annoying, but most people can follow a meeting and read some messages at the same time. Maybe the real issue is the meetings are boring or too long if a side chat takes over.

Pro tip: Pausing the dredge every few hours stops small issues from becoming big ones

That mindset shift makes the crew sharper too.

Unpopular opinion: My recent dive into vintage ads is changing how I see modern design.

Honestly don't see the problem with copying old styles. Everything's a remix anyway, and if the old stuff worked better, why not just use it? Feels like overthinking to worry about drawing a line.

Saw a content creator bounce back after a bad take, and it felt like a good moment.

Was it the direct approach? Owning up fast matters. People spot a fake sorry. A real one sticks. Online, you can show change right away. Private mistakes lack that chance.
